Turkey launches Afrin offensive against Syria's YPG
Turkey says it has now launched its offensive on the Kurdish-held enclave of Afrin in northern Syria. After days of shelling, Turkish jets have carried out air raids on the border district, targeting the Kurdish YPG. Syrian rebels backed by Turkey are also reported to have mobilised near Afrin. Turkey's President Erdogan says the next target will be Manbij, a town which was recaptured from ISIL in 2016 by a Kurdish-led force backed by the US, but opposed by Turkey.
