"U.S. puts top Russian officials on potential ban list"
The US Treasury has released a sanctions blacklist on Russia over its alleged meddling in the 2016 U-S presidential election. The list names most of top officials in the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as 96 business leaders, as eligible for sanctions. The Russian prime minister and foreign minister are among the targeted politicians. The list was published on the deadline set by the U-S Congress for implementation of a 20-17 sanctions law. State Department Spokeswoman, Heather Nauert, said the sanctions will not be imposed for now. She insisted that the legislation itself has so far deterred billions of dollars of foreign deals with the Russian defense sector.
