How can anger be a powerful tool? #StreamAtSundance: 'Kailash'
The Stream kicks off a week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah with a look at the documentary film “Kailash”. The movie tells the story of Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi, whose mission is to end child slavery in India. His quest to free children from the harsh conditions of their factory owners has him ping ponging across the country while launching a global movement in the process. Satyarthi believes anger can be a powerful tool to initiate change. In fact, he says getting angry can help us make peace. And it’s that ability to harness anger that fuels his life’s work. To date he’s helped rescue more than 85 thousand children. But there is much more work to be done. The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 152 million children working as enslaved labour, with 75 million of them working in hazardous conditions. So how can those in global body harness their anger and help make a difference in the lives of millions of children? We will ask Satyarthi when he joins the film’s director, Derek Doneen, on this episode of The Stream.
