Volcanic explosions are sooo 2000 and late. At today’s science fairs teens are making stethoscopes powered by artificial intelligence and coming up with cures for the Zika virus. The new documentary, ‘Science Fair’, showcases such endeavors and the extraordinary young people behind them. The Intel Science and Engineering Fair, a competition between 1,700 students from 78 countries serves as the film’s backdrop. The documentary follows several students from around the world on their quest to win “Best in Fair”. There’s also a distinguished teacher who takes a class of young immigrants and transforms them into one of the world’s best science fair teams. The film, directed by Cristina Costantini and Darren Fosters, debuts this year at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and at a time when scientific fact is being challenged from around the globe.
