"Kirkuk oil to reach Iran before end of January"
Iraq’s oil minister says crude oil from the Kirkuk region will reach Iran before the end of January. Officials say the volume is expected to reach 60-thousand barrels per day. The oil is expected to be trucked to Western Iran. Iraq’s oil minister said there are plans to build a pipeline at a later date. The development comes after a swap agreement between the two countries last month. Under the deal crude oil produced in Kirkuk will be transported to a refinery in Iran. In return the same amount would be delivered to southern Iraq. Iraq is the second-largest crude oil producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. It recently regained the oil-rich Kirkuk region from Kurdish forces.
