Turkish forces seize several villages in Afrin
An alliance of Arab and Kurdish forces in Syria’s north says at least 18 civilians have been killed and more than 20 others injured in the Turkish army’s shelling of the city of Afrin. The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces have added that most of the victims were women and children. They have also called on the US-led coalition to help them and accused Turkey of supporting Daesh by conducting its operation in the Kurdish-dominated regions of north-east Syria. The SDF has already said it is considering sending reinforcements to Afrin where fierce clashes rage on between the Kurdish forces and the Turkish troops backed by anti-Syria militants. Kurdish forces say their positions inside Afrin are under heavy shelling and rocket attacks by the Turkish army.
