State Department: US to decide on JCPOA on Friday
The US says it will decide on Friday whether to waive Washington’s anti-Iran sanctions as agreed under the landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and the P5+1 one group of countries. According to the U-S State Department, President Donald Trump will hold talks with his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Mattis at the White House ahead of the decision. The decision is expected a day after a ministerial level meeting hosted by the European Union between Britain, France, Germany and Iran to discuss the nuclear deal. The Thursday meeting called by E-U foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini is to ensure a full and continued implementation of the 20-15 agreement, also known as the J-C-P-O-A. Trump has repeatedly threatened to scrap the accord. But the E-U has dismissed any such move by Washington as counterproductive.
